A mandir is a temple. In a house it is the place the family keeps its murtis, and the object built to hold them.

Which direction should a mandir face?
The usual answer is that the murtis face north or east, which puts the mandir against a south or west wall. Here is where that comes from, and what to do when the room will not allow it.
