Terms of sale

What you are buying

Every piece is made for you after you order it. Nothing is in stock. Your piece is carved by hand in Ahmedabad, India, travels to Australia by sea, and is delivered to you. The whole journey takes about four months. We tell you the sailing date when you order, and we tell you if anything changes, the same day we know.

Ordering

Ordering happens in conversation — on WhatsApp, by phone, or by email — after two things have happened first:

• The size check. You send us a photo of the wall, the measurements of the space, and the sizes of the murtis or frames that will live inside. We confirm in writing that the piece fits, inside and out. If it won't, we say so and suggest what would.
• The price in writing. The price on the piece's page includes the piece, export packing, sea freight, customs clearance and import charges, and delivery and placement anywhere in Adelaide. Outside Adelaide, we quote delivery by postcode before you pay anything. For pieces marked quote, we confirm the final price in writing before anything is made. Nothing is added later.

The deposit

To start your piece we ask for a deposit of 30% of the price. How you pay it is arranged with you directly when you order.

Your deposit is refundable in full until the day carving starts. We tell you that date at least [3] days before it comes. Ask for a refund before that date and the full deposit comes back within ten business days — no reason needed.

Once carving has started, the piece is being made to your order and cannot be sold to anyone else. From that point, the deposit covers what we have already paid the workshop for your piece. If you cancel after carving starts, we keep only our actual costs to that point and refund anything above them.

While your piece is made

You hear from us four times, on dates we give you when you order: when your order is confirmed, when carving starts (with a photograph), when your piece is finished (with a full set of photographs, before it is crated), and when it is on the ship. We contact you — you never need to chase.

The balance is due within seven days of us sending you the photographs of your finished piece. It is crated and shipped after the balance is received.

Lead time

About four months is an estimate, not a promise, and we only quote times the workshop has confirmed. If your piece misses its sailing, we tell you the same day we know, with the new date and a photograph of where your piece is.

What you will receive

Your piece will match the photographs we send you before it is crated, and the dimensions on its page within [2 cm]. Because it is carved by hand, the grain, the exact tone of the wood and the depth of individual carving strokes vary from piece to piece — that is the nature of the object, not a fault. Where a page shows a finish as a rendering rather than a photograph, it says so under the image.

Delivery and damage

Delivery terms are on their own page: Delivery. In short: two people bring it in and place it; Adelaide is included in the price; check the piece before they leave; tell us about any damage within [48 hours] with photographs and we will repair, replace or refund.

Your rights

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Nothing in these terms limits those rights.
